Viltrox AF 85mm F1.8 II XF – 90% Excellent Portrait Prime for Fujifilm X-Mount with UV Filter + 1-Month Warranty

The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 II XF is one of the most celebrated third-party lenses ever made for the Fujifilm X-mount system. It has earned a reputation that few budget lenses achieve: it is sharp wide open, it focuses quickly and silently, and it produces images that rival lenses costing three times as much. For portrait photographers who want professional results without the professional price tag, the Viltrox 85mm f1.8 is the answer.

This unit is in 90% excellent condition. It has been gently used and shows normal signs of wear, but the glass is clean and all functions work perfectly. It comes with a UV filter to protect the front element. At $149.99, this is an exceptional value — well below the cheapest verified used listings and a fraction of the $399 new retail price . It is backed by a 1-month store warranty and free shipping worldwide.

The 85mm Portrait Focal Length

On Fujifilm’s APS-C X-mount cameras, the Viltrox 85mm f1.8 provides a 127.5mm equivalent field of view . This is the classic portrait focal length, favored by photographers for its flattering compression and comfortable working distance. It isolates subjects beautifully and creates that creamy background separation that defines professional portraiture.

What does this mean for your photography? You can shoot headshots and half-body portraits from a comfortable distance. The compression flatters facial features. The background melts away. The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 makes people look their best.

Sharp Wide Open – A Rare Achievement

The defining feature of the Viltrox 85mm f1.8 is its sharpness at maximum aperture. Most budget lenses require stopping down to f/2.8 or f/4 to achieve acceptable sharpness. This lens is different. One verified customer review stated: “The lens is very sharp even wide open and the build quality is excellent” . Another professional photographer noted that the sharpness is “the absolute hammer” and compared it favorably to lenses costing far more.

The optical design uses 10 elements in 7 groups, including one extra-low dispersion element and one aspherical element . These elements work together to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations, delivering high clarity and sharpness across the frame. The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 punches far above its weight class.

Fast, Silent STM Autofocus

The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 uses an STM (Stepping Motor) autofocus system. This delivers fast, quiet, and accurate focusing that is suitable for both stills and video. One customer review noted: “The AF is quick and silent and the build quality belies its price” .

For portrait photographers, the autofocus locks onto eyes with accuracy. Eye AF tracking works reliably, keeping your subject sharp even when they move. For videographers, the silent motor means no distracting noise will ruin your audio. The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 is a true hybrid lens.

Beautiful Bokeh and 9-Blade Aperture

The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 features a rounded 9-blade diaphragm . This creates smooth, circular out-of-focus highlights that enhance the visual appeal of every portrait. Combined with the fast f/1.8 aperture, the lens produces the creamy, dreamy backgrounds that portrait photographers love.

One reviewer described the bokeh as “the wahnsinn” (German for “amazing”) with “schöne runde Kreise” (beautiful round circles). The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 delivers the aesthetic quality that professionals demand.

Solid Build and HD Nano Coating

The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 features a sturdy metal body structure. It weighs 484 grams , which is substantial enough to feel premium but light enough to carry all day. The focus ring is smooth and well-damped for precise manual focus when needed.

The lens features HD Nano multi-layer coating, which suppresses flare and ghosting for improved contrast in strong lighting conditions . The coating is also water-resistant, helping to protect the exposed surfaces from moisture. The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 is built to handle real-world shooting.

USB Port for Firmware Updates

The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 includes an integrated USB port for firmware updates . This allows Viltrox to improve autofocus performance, add compatibility with new camera bodies, and fix bugs over time. The Viltrox 85mm f1.8 is a lens that gets better with age.
